Amy is the new Artistic Director for Macha Monkey.
Amy Poisson, a Seattle based director who focuses on new work by women artists. Most recently Amy’s work was seen at Theatre Off Jackson with A Hand of Talons, (2016 Gregory Award Winner for Costumes as well as numerous Gypsy Rose Awards) the third piece of Maggie Lee’s steampunk trilogy. Amy has also helmed The Twelfth Story by Rebecca Goldberg at Annex Theatre; Blood/Water/Paint by Joy McCullough-Carranza for Live Girls! Theater, Fast Company by Carla Ching (2014 Seattle Times Footlight Award), The Clockwork Professor and The Tumbleweed Zephyr (2016 Gregory Award Nominee for best new play) both by Maggie Lee produced by Pork-filled Productions.
She also directed These Streets by Gretta Harley & Sarah Rudinoff at Central Heating Lab at ACT and The Strange Misadventures of Patty by Allison Moore at Annex Theatre. She was the Associate Director for Robin Hood with Allison Narver at Seattle Children's Theatre, Assistant Director with Sheila Daniels on Elektra at Seattle Shakespeare Company and has directed various projects for 14/48, Live Girls!, and Book-It. Amy holds a Certificate in Directing for Stage and Screen from the UW, a BA in Theatre from Eckerd College.
Amy is currently working on several new scripts. Maggie Lee and Amy are crafting a new and exciting holiday show for Seattle Public Theatre. Amy is working with Jean Ruzumna and Lisa Every on a World Premiere of their new play Serving Caleb(working title) and with Joy McCullough-Carranza on her newest play Smoke and Dust(working title) which will also be a world premiere.
Prior to directing Amy was an AEA Stage Manager closing out her 15 year career with 5 years at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.
